Lord Puttnam enjoyed a glittering career as a film producer with hits including Midnight Express, Bugsy Malone, The Killing Fields, Local Hero and Chariots of Fire, which won the Oscar for Best Picture. He is a longstanding champion of education reform, pushing for a more creative and flexible curriculum. From 1997, Lord Puttnam worked as an advisor to the UK government, visiting over 400 schools, lecturing around the world and becoming Chairman of the General Teaching Council. He also set up the National Teaching Awards to celebrate the achievements of educators in the UK. Lord Puttnam is a Senior Non-Executive Director at Promethean.
